Upon completing the selection and design of the appropriate Remedial Action Alternative (RAA) for a Site, CEA personnel mobilize to the Site to implement the RAA. Remedial actions are generally implemented with specific media, contaminants and contaminant target levels established as goals for the remedial action. Once the remedial system is placed into operation at the Site, CEA personnel conduct ongoing O&M of the system as needed to optimize system efficiency. Typical remedial actions implemented by CEA appear below.
- On-Site (In-Situ) Treatment/Off-Site Treatment
- Mitigation of Exposure to Hazardous Materials
- Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE)/Air Sparge (AS) Systems
- High Vacuum Extraction (HVE)/Groundwater Pump & Treat Systems
- Chemical Oxidation/Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA)
- Sub-Slab Depressurization (SSD) Systems
Install, Operate & Maintain SVE/AS System, Conducted on behalf of a Major Petroleum Retailer (2013) Gasoline Service Station Property, Wayland, MA
CEA continues to perform O&M of this SVE/AS system installed at the Site in 2010 for the purpose of controlling/reducing the mass of dissolved phase hydrocarbons in groundwater to levels that would not be likely to result in a significant vapor intrusion pathway.
Install, Operate & Maintain SSD System, Conducted on behalf of a Family Realty Trust (2010) Residential Housing Complex, Somerville, MA
CEA performed ongoing O&M of this sub-slab depressurization system (SSDS) after installing the remedial system in April 2010 to prevent chlorinated VOCs in soil gas from entering the indoor air of this residential complex.
Install, Operate & Maintain HVE System, Conducted on behalf of an Independent Fuel Oil Distributor (2009) – Bulk Fuel Storage Facility, Worcester, MA
Through 2009, CEA performed ongoing O&M of this High Vacuum Extraction system (HVE) installed at the Site by CEA in 2003 to remediate fuel oil product and dissolved phase impacts in the subsurface via use of eight HVE wells.
Operate & Maintain Groundwater Extraction & Treatment System, Conducted on behalf of an Industrial Property Owner (2012) – Former Plastics Manufacturing Facility, Plainville, MA
Between 2006 and 2012, CEA performed ongoing O&M of this groundwater extraction and treatment system installed at the Site to remediate chlorinated VOCs in groundwater via use of three recovery wells (RW-1, RW-2, and RW-3).
