The 2017 National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Remediation General Permit (RGP)for USEPA Region 1 (MA & NH) will become effective April 8, 2017. Operators seeking authorization to discharge must submit a completed Notice of Intent (NOI) in accordance with Appendix IV – Part 1 of the RGP as follows:
- For existing discharges, no later than 90 days after the effective date of the RGP (by Friday July 7, 2017)
- For emergency discharges, no later than 14 days after the discharges commence
- For new discharges, at least 7 days before discharges commence
EPA will issue a written authorization for all discharges, indicating the effective start date. Verbal approval for emergency discharges conducted prior to the receipt of a written authorization from EPA is also required.
